I am mostly out of the recap game these days, but I came out of retirement last night for the Law & Order: SVU episode about Rihanna, Chris Brown, and Dave Navarro.

The wife watches this show and this episode was especially ridiculous and horribly acted. I usually don’t watch this show with her, but I will for shows like The Bachelor or Next Great Baker. Mostly if I watch, it’s for John Mulaney like Ice-T reactions.

The most unbelievable thing to me was the Chris Brown inspired character’s name was Caleb. There might be black guys named Caleb, but I don’t buy it.

This is amazing:

Motorcycle stuntman Evel Knievel is offered a fortune to perform in Mexico. What Evel doesn’t know is that they’re planning to kill him and use his body to ship cocaine into the U.S. His chief mechanic, who is an alcoholic, is weary of the whole thing and discovers something, but before he can tell Evel he is sent to a rehab clinic for drug addicts, which Evel doesn’t believe he is. He goes to see him who tells Evel what he found out but is still in the dark as what is happening.

As the legendary stuntman travels to Mexico to prepare for one of his greatest stunts yet, he takes time out of his schedule to meet his fans, help out lonely orphans, and try to get his alcoholic mechanic to reconcile with his son. While all of this is going on, Evel’s main rival is plotting to have Evel killed and then get rich by using the Team Evel 18-wheeler to smuggle cocaine into America.

According to last.fm, I’ve listened to 42 times since it’s release in October. While that might not seem like a lot, the song is 20 minutes long and (math here) that means I’ve listened to this single song for 14 hours.

Mostly I listen to this song while I read on transit. Update: I started taking transit. This might not sound like a compliment, but it’s the perfect reading-to song. It’s the perfect white noise song. But it’s also the perfect gliding-by-people-as-you-get-off-transit-and-into-the streets song. I read The Flame Alphabet by Ben Marcus to this song and it’s the perfect experimental fiction Flame Alphabet song. The book has forest jews that communicate with each other through hidden wells and tunnels (its experimental fiction), which almost match the opening “with his arms outstretched” vocal loop used.

I have every moment of this song memorized, like an orchestra conductor, like I do for GnR’s Appetite for Destruction.
